Who is Vero Insurance?

Vero isn’t one of the brands the come to mind when you first think about insurance in NZ. You’re more likely to think about AA Insurance, State, AMI, and Tower. Or perhaps the policy you have purchased from your bank.
But Vero is actually one of the big players in the New Zealand insurance scene.
Sitting above Vero is Suncorp Group, which is a gigantic Australian insurance brand. Suncorp has an office in New Zealand, but they are fully owned by Suncorp Australia.
Below Vero sits AA Insurance. AA Insurance is predominately owned by Vero, with the other portion being owned by the Automobile Association (AA) – the brand you most likely relate with roadside rescue.
Vero also underwrites the insurance policies for some other brands, such as Warehouse Insurance, and ANZ banks general insurance.

Vero Reviews on Discussions Forums
There are plenty of Vero insurance reviews on discussions forums, particularly Reddit. One user wrote the following in regards to their house insurance in Wellington: "We went through an insurance broker to get insured with Vero. No other insurance companies would take us on due to the age of the house. We couldn't even transfer the vendors policy as Tower refused. My understanding is that IAG (State) and Tower are both refusing new policies in Wellington as they are "overexposed". An insurance broker is free for you as they get paid a commission by the insurance company. ANZ are also a broker for Vero if you are looking at a mortgage with them". Another user wrote that they got a few home insurance quotes on a $700,000 sum insured. Their quotes were $4,000 from tower, and $3,000 from both AA Insurance and Vero.
